    Thank you for such a great site. I sailed on a few shell tankers between 1968 and 1971. I worked on deck. My special memories are of my trip on the PLATIDIA. We sailed from Cardiff dry dock in Jan. 1969 and didnít return to the UK until March 1970. We were based in Curacao and traded mainly to the east coast of the USA. Also all over the Caribbean, Venezuela two trips to West Africa and one trip to the Med. It was an eventful trip. Some names I remember were, a rather pompous captain named Holroyd, first mate named Saunders, second mate named Kelly, he was from Scotland and a real gentleman. I also remember a third mate named Anderson. And, a huge Scottish engine room store keeper, Dusty Miller. When I found the site all the memories came flooding back.
