    Hi all,
My 82 year old mother will qualify for a 2nd World war commemorative medal issued by the Australian government on behalf of my late father, Jacob (Jaap) van Hamburg, if we are able to confirm that he sailed on Shell tankers during the war.
He trained in 1938 at Ambachtschool in Den Brielle and then sailed on Hermes, Tibia, Mirza, and Perna as an engineer. He had several medals and stars and was torpedoed a couple of times. He worked worldwide for Shell as a shore based engineer from 1951, commencing in Punta Cardon Venezuela.
I would appreciate it if someone could give me a contact where we could establish evidence that he did sail during the war years. Shellpensions have been unhelpful and say that they do not retain records of that time.
    Hopefully someone can assist,
    regards to all,
    Nigel van Hamburg
