Sailed down to Wollongong to be strike bound off-shore for six weeks and ran out of beer

Sailed on her twice.

First time joined Rotterdam then Antwerp/Norfolk Virginia/Richards Bay/Fukashima/Wakayama/Phillipines/Chiba/Dampier Australia then paid off in Pohang Korea after 7 months.

Second time joined in dry dock in Capetown then Richards Bay/Trieste and Venice

Joined the tectus by chopper at las palmas on her maiden voyage as the tectus. en route to richards bay sa.coal everywhere.fancied a change and it sure was! then back to europe antwerp/hamburg then to sepitiba bay near rio what a place !*?.then a long trip across to kure in japan to offload a few lumps of iron ore.then to dampier with a cargo of coal for wollongong ,alongside for 10 days great time but skint lol.backload there half cargo and then back to richards bay to top off ,then back to europe aabenraa in denmark to pay off.different.but glad to get back to normality and real ships lol.

Joined her when layed up in Loch Striven as Canadian Bridge with Blair McIntyre as the Super along with 4 other 3rds.Had to stay ashore at night for the first week until we could get the ships services going; then took her around to drydock for survey, painting etc. The only bulker I sailed on; filthy when loading coal and terrible movement when loaded with Iron ore! - I think she was a sister ship to the Devonshire that went down in the Pacific.

I remember picking up a load of Vietnamese "Boat People" during one trip in the south China sea. We dropped them off in Singapore and got a commendation from the UNHCR High Commissioner.
