I joined the Vertagus in Niigata Japan January 1969. I was 17 straight from NSTS.
Sailed on the ship for 14 months, and signed off in Belfast March 1970.
Countries we sailed to were, India,South Africa-Durban-Port Elizibeth Cape Town. Aden....
I was a pantry boy. My mate who joined with me was from Croyden. Met him at the NSTS and flew out with each other to join the ship. His name was Pete Roe. have not seen him since ( would like to get in contact with him )He was the Galley boy. Second cook was called Rosie ( No prizes for guessing why )
