I am the fourth generation in the oil business. My father and grandfather worked at the Shell Refinery in Roxana (Wood River). I work for a Shell lubricants marketer in South Roxana, IL. I graduated from Roxana High School and our mascot name was The Shells (The Great Shell Machine). The refinery is next to the school, but it is now owned by ConocoPhillips. It is a long story, but I am sure the Royal Dutch were not happy that former North American CEO Jim Morgan sold it. It is the 8th largest refinery in the world and is now ConocoPhillips most profitable business unit.
