I was on the Ss. Hemicardium in Singapore March 1966 Departing for Vietnam when we were told that we were going into a war zone and that we would be given double pay.
We were not given the chance to pay off. Enroute a roomer went round the ship that the Hemidonax had been shelled and the skipper and a cox had been killed. The skipper came from the Humber area cox not known.
Have never found out about the incident was this true or false.
At the time it put the sh*ts up me as I was only 17 teen.
Dose anyone remember this incident?????????????
