Ken Kennedy, (my Dad) joined San Veronico in North Shields on 4th Dec 1944. He sailed as 2nd Mate, and was discharged in New York on 10th Feb 1945 due to ill health. He had to have an operation in hospital, and afterwards returned to the UK in the old Cunarder Aquitania. This was all taken care of by Eagle Oil, but due to the situation with ships and crews available, he was assigned by MOWT to join the cargo vessel Fort Spokane on 8th Oct 1945 until 4th Dec 1945, after which he came ashore, having served in Shell and Eagle Oil for most of WW2.

I joined the San Veronico at stanlow 1961as midships steward, the engineer steward was John Swift,I remember he had his nineteeth birthday aboard and we had a few drinks!.Iremember the galley boy, looked about 12,i have some photos of us sitting on a deck chair with our ships dog!,picked it up in west indies, all abit upset when the dog went ashore one day and we sailed before he got back.
If the galley boy in my photo is Joesph J Barrow,i dont recall him being called Barrow !.
