My father Kenneth N. Kennedy joined the Cardium as an apprentice in 1938 near Rotterdam. He was in Hamburg in 1939 when he and his compatriots were advised by the agent, that in the event of war, they were to use some bicycles outside the dock gate and cycle to Denmark! Dad left Shell during the war, later serving in the P&O bfore joining Eagle Oil.
